More Changes Coming to the Virginia Rent Relief Program

Effective Dec. 1, 2021, the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) will begin administering the Virginia Rent Relief program for both landlords and tenants. DHCD is working with Virginia Interactive, a digital service provider that will offer an updated, secure and user-friendly portal known as Gov2Go.

Important details include:

  • Virginia Housing and DEVAL will no longer accept applications or contract amendments through its portal after 11:59 PM on Nov. 30 but will continue to process pending applications or amendments already in process prior to that time.
  • Applications already in process will remain active and those that are still pending on Dec. 30 will be transitioned automatically to the Gov2Go portal.
  • With this new system, both tenants and landlords will enter all new applications in one location/portal, further streamlining the application process. This approach will allow for more detailed, frequent automated communication and status updates.
  • Using the portal, landlords and tenants will be able to access status updates on landlord-initiated as well as tenant-initiated applications.

Information on the new portal:

Starting on Wednesday, Dec.1 at 12:00 AM, landlords and tenants can obtain new login information and learn to apply through the new portal. Instructions on how to access the GOV2GO portal are forthcoming.

Thank you for your continued interest in Virginia Rent Relief and for your patience as we make this transition. If you have questions or concerns, please email the RRP Team at [email protected].
